Spring onions , sliced into coins. Sherry vinegar. Dry sherry. Thyme sprigs , tied together with butcher twine. Extra-virgin olive oil. Salt , as needed. Pepper , as needed. Timing 30 min. To understand the flavor of an agrodolce, all it takes is looking at its name. So how does this sweet and sour combination happen? The foundation of an agrodolce comes from just two ingredients.
With that base, agrodolce take on additional flavor through herbs and spices that transform this condiment beyond a basic balsamic.
Staring with that foundation, an agrodolce opens the door to new ways to amp up the flavors of your dishes. Shiitake infuses fresh mushroom flavor for a savory addition. The very versatile Rosemary Garlic elevates the bright ingredients in a stir-fry or marinade. And the Ginger Lime brings a bright combination of citrus and savory for a new take on your classic dishes. As its name implies, the agrodolce stems from Italian cooking.
Typically, agrodolce can take on a more savory and robust flavor profile that pairs well with cheese plates, sauces, marinades and much more. Another great thing about the agrodolce is that it adds a bright and bold flavor to your dish instantly. Like balsamic vinegars, agrodolce offers a wide range of ideas to incorporate it into your dishes. Yummy; thank you!

Right on target first time round. Don't forget some good bread to sop up the sauce. I used foccacia. This is very easy. I had it for a family dinner- a week later, my son and daughter called to get the recipe.
Taylors Island, Md. Los Angeles, CA. I made this last night using cod and though I'm never that crazy about pan-fried fish, the sauce was terrific.
I would definitely use it on other things, maybe boneless chicken breasts. Looking forward to trying it with other fishes like halibut.
